Right now the music world is being gripped by the latest return of Snoop Dogg and this his first single;

It’s a great track, for one reason mostly…the sample!

So let’s break it down and educate (for those that didn’t know). It’s a bit like a biblical tale..

Snoop is borrowing heavily from the 1998 classic by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock, “It Takes Two”;

That track borrows heavily from the 1972 classic by Lyn Collins “Think”

Collins was most famous for being part of James Brown’s band in the 70′s.

Unfortunately she passed away in 1995…but wow she left us some classics to remember her with!

and she brought the heat with…

then there is the classic..

As DJ’s still say…”If you don’t know? Get to know!!”

    ye, this is interesting, cos; i would have thought it obvious that a hip hop producer/ dj would love the originals that form the groundwork of classic hop hop tunes, that, were allready classic before the hop hop was added.
    but
    it turns out this is not allways the case.
    which i find infuriating cos how can a music maestro not be fascinated by the journey of music.
    anyway hip hop was what put me onto alot of soul, funk, and rythem and blues in all there incarnations.
    rant over.
    happy new year bandit
