This is how Wikipedia defines a boombox:

“A boombox, also known as ghetto blaster, jambox, or radio-cassette, is a name given to portable stereo systems capable of playing radio stations and recorded music (usually cassettes and/or, since the early 1990s, CDs), at relatively high volume. Designed for portability, most boomboxes can be powered by batteries, as well as by line current.”For many people they were annoying as hell because the disturbed the “quit streets”, but for millions of kids all over the world they were part of a new way to express themselves.

One thing was owning a boombox, the other was what kind of music did you blast on it, and did you get extra attention because the tape you made at home all day yesterday turned out to be amazing?

Boomboxes are a part of a certain time era, but for 3-4 years now they have been steadily popping up in more and more places. Be it on the walls of the streets they used to menace, be it on clothing, bags, pillow cases, laptop stickers, as jewelry, iPod speakers or art.

But all those things are just fashion items, i guess what we all deep down really want to be is this guy…
