Simply the best…

I have a fascination with the way that hip hop (and by that I mean the whole urban culture) has grown from being an acceptable fad, or a youth movement expected to fade away…into a true artform, lifestyle and mainstream pop phenomenon (and the good and bad that comes with it).

But the ability to look back, appreciate and be inspired all over again is thanks to guys like Jonathan Mannion.

Oh you don’t know? Let me be honest – neither did I until I watched this (below) and saw iconic image after iconic image…and I realised, I knew the guy better than I thought.

From Martha Cooper (here, here and here kids), to guys like Jonathan Mannion – we, the kids of the hip hop explosion, owe a serious debt of gratitude to these people who have documented the culture in such vivid and beautiful ways.

Awesome stuff!
