Old School Strikes Back!

3 October 2009 33 views One Comment

This week has seen 2 comedy giants do what they do best…make us laugh over quite serious subjects!

First up:

John Cleese is awesome, funny, slighty zany and to anyone not English…a typical Englishman.

I was read something interesting about him;

Forced to raise the cash for his eye-wateringly expensive divorce settlement, John Cleese has put aside fond thoughts of a happy retirement and hit the road for a run of one-man shows.

Say what? Isn’t he 70 years old now?

But, like any good comedian – he’s turning personal tragedy into awesome comedy! Truth doesn’t hurt – it’s funny as hell!

“I’m here, my friends, because frankly I need the money,”
“I’ve fallen on hard times. I’m having to pay $20 million to a woman who I believe is the special love child of Bernie Madoff and Heather Mills.”

&
“To comfort me my lawyer told me to imagine how much I would have had to pay if Alyce had contributed anything to the relationship – such as children, or a conversation.”

Ouch!

But David Letterman has managed to steal all the headlines and quite possibly set a new standard for dealing with a crisis in a public way..

Let me not spoil it for you – here’s what he said on his show;

And the subsequent news fallout..

You get extorted for having sex with women that work for you…AND YOU END UP MAKING IT DOWNRIGHT FUNNY…on your own nationally syndicated show!

You have to applaud his balls of both of them (pardon the bad pun)!
