eBay fights back…

I have this friend that is a garage sale and eBay nut, both selling and buying all kinds of stuff. Thing that normal people (me) would probably just throw out. But he sells it and makes a profit, which makes him smarter than me some would say…

But there are certain things you may not be able to sell on eBay in the future. Such as Moët, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Hublot, Kenzo, Mont Blanc, Marc Jacobs. All brands under the LVMH and Richemont umbrellas. Organizations that apparently still lives in the 80′s, together with certain lawmakers. Because the companies are allowed to require online vendors to have a bricks-and-mortar store before they can sell their products online.

The issue is of course counterfeit goods, but have any of these companies ever walked the streets of any bigger city around the world? This is something they can’t control. So they try to control the little bit they can. Is it right that counterfeit product can be found on eBay? Of course not! But is trying to shut sales all together down on eBay the answer? No absolutely not! Remember this is their actual customers buying and selling their brand. And do you really think that eBay like this is going on?

So why not try to work WITH them?

eBay are doing the right thing fighting this.
