I owe John Hughes everything!

I still remember the first time i saw “Breakfast Club”, i can’t tell you exately how old i was, but i was 11 when it came out, so it was probably a few years after that on a betamax moviebox from the local movie renting place… This is pre Blockbuster for you young’n's!
It was one of those classic coming of age movies that americans make better than anyone else, and every boy wanted to be at least one of the guys in the movie. But it isn’t the John Hughes movie that had the biggest influence on my life…
Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck pretty much killed me with a balanced combo of dark comedy, funny insights and lots of intelligens. Thrown in the annoying sister, ever-close-to-catch-you-but-not principle, and you get “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” the perfect teenage comedy (in my book anyways).
The reason i’m telling you this is that John Hughes died today, the man that had me laughing and thinking at the same time, all thru my teenage years. He more or less invented John Candy in “Planes, Trains & Automobiles”, ”Uncle Buck” and “The Great Outdoors” (a very silly but also very overlooked Hughes gem), Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall and other forgotten 80′s screen stars.
The point i’m trying to make is that the man made great movies, but wrote insanely good scripts. No doubt he has inspired a lot of people, and still does. He tought me to never settle for the easy solution and the cheap laugh. If you dig a little deeper, the addition of intelligence will make it special, better than the average.
John Hughes RIP
