I had to feature this trailer for a film that was directed by Rasmus Poulsen and Andreas Johnsen.

The explosion of reggae and dancehall music from Bob Marley recording at Abbey Road to David Rodigan to Sean Paul’s pop career has been amazing.

Understand that the island of Jamaica is 234 kilometres (145 mi) in length and as much as 80 kilometres (50 mi) in width – but it’s cultural affect on the world has been huge.

“Man Ooman” explores the cultural affect of “dancehall” music in the last few years.

Dancehall has always been a highly sexual, homophobic and violent music – but recently it’s taken a very different tone. I like the way that the film unapologetically looks at this.

Check it out..
