What would you do?

We’ve seen the pictures and heard about they were rumoured to be fighting about…here’s the very latest - if you need it.

But now she is under huge amounts of pressure.

She is has become the world’s most recognisable domestic abuse victim…and we haven’t heard a word from her.
Which leaves room for everyone else to speculate;

Anderson Cooper has said it best;
“A personal catastrophe has become a public spectacle. She will now have to wear the badge of “Battered Woman” and all that implies: forever being asked about that night; being unwillingly thrust into the role of spokesperson for victims of domestic violence — all because her boyfriend is a vicious thug.”

It’s true…whether she wants to be or not, she will have to accept that the millions of young women who have followed her as a musical artist, fashion icon and celebrity, are now wondering what she will do next.

The longer she says nothing – the more it seems that she is being hypocritical.
Lucky it’s not Beyonce who talks about being a strong woman in all her music…

Here’s Oprah weighing in on the subject..

and an educational video using the police report as its storyline..

There’s been commercial considerations as well; Revlon are reported to have hired a firm to investigate what the public perception of Rihanna following the incident.

And the inevitable bad jokes, spoofs and hood related attire…

Nice…

So, when reports surface that “the pair reportedly reunited — staying at Diddy’s Miami home — but are now reportedly taking a break.” you can almost hear the shift in public opinion from sympathetic to disbelief…

Meanwhile the papparazzi are happily snapping away at Rihanna house hunting last week to satisfy our lust for any sight or sound from her.

I can’t help feeling that, regardless of what happens in the trial, her up til now ‘dignified silence’, will work against her. There is an opportunity to be a woman who could make a difference, save some people’s lives and change the way society views domestic abuse (and on the flipside, earn a hell of a lot more money doing that, rather than making pop music).

Let’s see

    Amen Guys,
    She could be making a real difference by speaking out. I have a feeling that she does not have the strength to do it. Sometimes some people equate drama and attention, even if it is the wrong type eg; Jealousy, anger, shouting, arguments etc with Love. He loves me so much because he gets so jealouse and so perpetuating the idea that she 9the woman) pushed him to loose his temper, row, get violent.
    This pattern has to be broken and sometimes that belief system goes back to childhood, what relationships the person witnessed as a child etc.
    It doenst look like she is ready to recognise any of the root issues and she is still in Love with chris Brown, so I think it will have to get allot worse before she leaves.
    But Oprah is right- once he has done it once- he will do it again. It is only a matter of time.
    I dont think we can lump all the expectations of battered women eveywhere on to Rihanna’s shoulders. But I just hope she gets out sonner rather than later and takes care of herself.

    The thing is that the longer she says nothing and lets the speculation run wild – the more it may seem as if she is condoning his actions.

    One one hand, it is a lot to expect a music celebrity to be more than the shallow world they operate in…but if she could find it within herself to stand u on this issue – it would literally save people’s lives!
