Is Obama vs. McCain really a pageant?

27 June 2008 59 views One Comment

The question of who is gonna be the next American president, has for many years, been an international one, and most of Europa is already standing behind Obama. The polls say it, the papers say it and even Facebook says it.
In the states, it looks like most of the popular media has decided to stand by Obama as well. They might not all say it, but if you look how the two candidates are being portrayed in pictures, it’s pretty obvious.

Now i have chosen some pretty grim McCain excamples, and some of the best Obama ones, but it is just to show how they’re most likely gonna be presented by the already Obama friendly press.

It’s very obvious if you compare the Time covers.
Obama looks young, crisp, interesting and a bit like a savior. McCain on the other hand looks a bit like a grandfather, old school, boring and like he just had a nap.

It’s also very easy to draw parallels to the famed Kennedy and Nixon tv debate, but it’s not an unfair parallel. No doubt that the Obama camp will do everything in their power, to make Obama looks as good as possible to enhance the difference between the two candiates.

In an age where looks and apperance matters more and more, it might just decide the american election.

But … isn’t it hard NOT to make Obama look younger and crisper than McCain who IS a grandfather and old school?

I mean – it is not like they went and manipulated McCain to look older. The man is in fact the oldest presidential candidate in US history as far as I know.
