A soundclash is two people going head to head or in this case song-to-song till a winner prevails.

The idea of soundclashes came from reggae DJs going at it in reggae clubs. But the lost art of sound clashing takes skill to do; It’s not just playing a song but how you play it, when you play it and depending on if your going first or second, how does your song compare to the competitor’s song.

A great example of this art was Just Blaze and The Alchemist having a friendly clash in the UK where they both dropped and mixed some of the best beats out there.

Unlike Just Blaze and The Alchemist, in the Bandit office it’s always a competition.

About 8-9 months ago the first soundclash went down in the office, since then it has become the competition of all competitions in the office (bigger than FIFA12). And with the arrival of New York Based intern Armend, it was evident that a soundclash would go down…

It was possibly the best soundclash in the office so far that took place only a few weeks ago where Armend and intern at large Emil busted out some of their best tracks.

It was the first soundclash in office that extended 3 days and it took 18 songs each to decide a winner. The judges varied each day but it was a combination of the head BANDIT, Rob Scotland and Christian Grubert as well as soundclash veteran Maria Rumyanceva and DJ Semtex’s right hand man Roy Thomas. This is how each day went down:

Day 1;

The overall score of the first day was 3-2 to New York (Armend’s) side, which means he won the first overall round. This is what we played;

Round 1 (Emil won):

Day 2;

If New York (Armend) was able to win the second day as well, that would be it, and there wouldn’t be any final. This is how round/day 2 went down;

This took us to a last and final round the following day, which was off the hook!

It was now down to the final round. For this we skyped our dear friends and mostly qualified soundclash judges, Maria and Roy. The rules were a little different in this round since we were now playing first to 5. This is how it went down;
