It was January 2010, and I’d just finished being utterly blown away by a young lady called Jessica Cornish.

Thanks to a friend’s music blog, it felt like I’d discovered a gem of a talent, clearly I was late to the party!
(just checked the youTube stats and she’s on 5.2million for my favourite ‘Mamma Knows Best’)

So I wrote the blog and played the video to anyone who had any interest in new vocal talent.

Fast forward 2 years and you might recognise Jessica;

Yup, she’s now Jessie J, one of the world’s most recognisable pop stars.

In my mind, she’d transformed into this bigger than life figure…I’d fallen in love with the Prince tee shirt wearing, no make up, young girl sitting on her bedroom floor belting out amazing vocals.

Who is this pop star with the crazy make up and the middle of the pop charts tunes?

Well clearly, I hadn’t paid attention – or even given her a chance, because nothing’s changed.

Here’s Jessie, on holiday, with her mates, deciding to (in the words of Deion Sanders) “do what it do baby”, and celebrate the achievement of her latest track going number one in the UK.

Amazing, fun, personable and effortlessly sung – don’t you agree?

Jessie, I’m sorry I doubted you.
