And Mr. West is back again…
Kanye West is probably one of the most mentioned people on our blog overall. We are obviously fans of his music and unique personality (sometimes) but that’s actually not even the reason for it…
What ”Yeezy” does so welll compared to other artists is he always keeps himself relevant!
It seems like he never takes any breaks, and at the moment he really seems unstoppable, after, not only the WTT album, but also the most well regarded concert tour in years. As Jay-Z says it himself, they’re both in their “zone” right now, and for that for reason I have a strong feeling that Kanye will make some drastic moves in 2012;
So, he has two more albums coming in the near future, one with Jay and one by himself… but music is not the only area where Kanye West is making creative development!
Our London correspondent, Jason, recently did a piece on Kanye West’s latest clothing line called “Dw” (after his mother Dr. Donda West), which he exhibited during 2011 Paris Fashion Week.
His first women’s line didn’t come through with great success. Most fashion critics actually seemed like the fashion industry (themselves) had been violated since they didn’t consider Mr. West a real “designer”, but only a rich musician who wasn’t satisfied with his status already.
Now, I won’t get into whether that’s true or not, since I don’t know much about other kinds of fashion other than streetwear, but one thing is for sure, Kanye has produced few, but great products, in that category!
Calling the Louis Vuitton sneaker he co-designed “streetwear” might not be completely true to streetwear, but it’s definitely something I personally can understand and it’s for sure a good-looking pair of kicks.
Besides that he’s soon coming out with a second of the legendary Nike Air Yeezy shoe (March 23rd), which I personally think is one of the coolest sneakers out there, which might be why Kanye’s “Big Brother” Jay-Z, has been rocking them several times.
Overall, brand Kanye West is currently doing very well. He’s almost as successful as you can be musically, and he’s getting there fashion wise as well, so what does he do next? “DONDA”.
If you follow Kanye West on twitter or read lifestyle blogs you are already familiar with DONDA, if not let me allow to quote Hypebeast;
So, it looks like Mr. West is actually going to be on the throne of everything soon, and in my opinion it’s even because of DONDA…
My general feeling is that people now all of the sudden accept and love him for all the great work he has been doing, which is very understandable to me, it’s just a bit ironic when thinking of the massive hate he received only a few years back;
I truly understand why people disliked him back then, but to me he was one of the very few artists who actually gave the world a look inside to his personality, which made me respect him even more.
Yes, he acted immature back then, but you could obviously feel his burning passion, which made him a unique personality in the tough and competitive music industry.
Now he’s on the top for that same reason, and a lot of the people who used to hate aren’t half as active as they usually were…
Now, I’m not saying that Kanye isn’t still a hated person by a sh*t load of people, but I am saying that since his success has grown during the last year or so, a lot of haters suddenly stopped hating as hard as they used to.
When it comes to his newest concept, DONDA, there has already been profile (@DONDAworldwide) trying to make Yeezy look a fool, by making jokes about it (some of them are kinda funny). It was only active for 24 hours.
“Haters gonna hate”, it’s a fact!
People will always make fun of people trying to do something new, risky and creative until that person one day succeed and shut their mouths, which Kanye, in my opinion, has been doing very well for quite a while now!
Way to go,
Emil
