Summer in Copenhagen is the shit, especially when it’s the first weekend of June and time for Distortion! The streets of the centre turns in to one big party, the weather is nice (usually) and the atmosphere is indescribable!

For all of you who are not familiar with the concept, here’s an introduction…

Distortion is basically an annual music festival started in Copenhagen.

As I see it, it celebrates the urban culture of the different areas in Copenhagen with some insanely cool street parties followed up by some great after parties. Everything from street art, parades, club culture and modern society is the main focus during the 5-day public party period. Not only streets, but also shops, boats and busses are packed with young people, who’s ready to party, side to side with some of the best DJ’s in Copenhagen to make sure that every event is special!

Distortion started back in 1998 as a one-night event in the world-famous Tivoli.

It soon developed and in the year of 2000 it turned in to a 5-day mobile festival that moved around to the different areas of Copenhagen. The main development has happened during the last couple years… Distortion is now doing parties in Berlin, Malmoe and Oslo. Besides that, it went from being 31.000 people in 2008 to 80.000 participants last year! It went from 13 dance floors in 2000 to now being 101+, which makes me sure that this year is going to be the craziest year so far!

The weather reports are amazing, people seem more excited then ever and most important, Copenhagen is ready to party!

Distortion starts today and ends on Sunday, and BANDIT will of course keep you posted with some updates during the festival.

Peace,

Emil
