Are B&O kidding???
Maybe Kanye will revoke my hipster pass by saying this.. but have Bang & Olufsen completely lost the last bit of remaining braincells? It’s one thing that they’ve been sleeping on Ye forever, but it’s a whole other deal, that they are so out of touch with the real world, that it’s scary!
Like everybody else they are a company with problems. Their stock was at one point this year down with 75%, they have let a lot of people go, sales are down… and have been down for some time. That has forced several B&O store franchises to close, another problem for a company that has exclusivity high on it’s list.
You would think a company with those problems, felt the urge to look at what it could do differently. Instead it gives us this…. BeoVision 4-103.
Yes it’s pretty, HUGE (103 inches), heavy (500 kg) and expensive (€100,000). But mostly it’s just pretty…… stupid!
Now i understand that B&O want to remain exclusive, but i fail to understand how you make people feel special by basing your Titanic tv on a Panasonic television.. thaaat’s right!
I could really go on all day about how they could turn their whole business around, by catering more to the new up and coming segment. By taking a few chances, and maybe…. and i’m just freestyling here, maybe trying to appear a bit younger.. but hey that’s just me.

Bah.. B&O´s whole business strategy is outdated. Consumers are smart these days. Especially on the electronics scene. They do a whole lot of research on the net before they spend as much a dime. They know that B&O buy all their parts on the world market from Samsung, Panasonic and Philips in the old days. and then put it together in a factory in DK adding their own design. Even if B&O tried to refresh their corporate strategy and started catering to the young crowd, what about prices? they would have to go down as well and they cant aford that. Right now only people with tons of money and questionable taste buy their stuff.. And apparently thats how they want it.
Maaaan……even rich yuppies won’t splash this kinda money for a tv like that. Not even if they had the money for it.
Wouldn’t mind playing some PS2 games or watching some flicks on that tv at home though.
